RIVER STEWARDS AND STREAM MONITORS
Conduct cleanups and tree plantings, participate in stream monitoring, lead recreational activities, help maintain the Olentangy Water Trail
Adopt-An-Area Coordinator(s)
Time Commitment: 3 or more events from spring through fall
Location: at various sites along the river and tributaries
Tasks: organize volunteer workdays at sites along the Olentangy
Skills: enjoy working with people, ability to walk on rough terrain and engage in physical labor
Recreation Coordinator
Time Commitment: 10+ hours per event
Location: at various sites throughout the watershed
Tasks: Plan, advertixe and lead recreational events like hikes, fishing, boating, and bike rides
Skills: enjoy interacting with people and leading active events
River Steward(s)
Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per event
Location: at various sites along the river and tributaries
Tasks: conduct clean-ups, tree plantings, and invasive plant removal
Skills: ability to walk on rough terrain and engage in physical labor
Stream Monitor(s)
Time Commitment: 2-3 times throughout the summer
Location: at various sites along the river and tributaries
Tasks: collect data on stream health
Skills: ability to walk on rough terrain and wade in streams (training in monitoring techniques will be provided)
Tributary Coordinator(s)
Time Commitment: variable
Location: along the tributary closest to your home or work
Tasks: work with FLOW staff to assess the stream, set priorities and coordinate with other residents to improve the quality of your nearest stream
Skills: interest in your stream, desire to coordinate with other residents (FLOW will provide training)
Water Trail Keeper(s)
Time Commitment: ½-1 hour every two weeks
Location: at water trail access and portage sites
Tasks: check on condition of kiosks and warning signs, stock literature at kiosks, once a quarter paddle the trail to report on conditions, post information on wiki
Skills: paddling
